Privacy Policy

Contact form: your name, email address, company (if you enter one), the reason you're contacting us, and your message.

Email list: your email address, the wording you agreed to, when you agreed, and where on the site you signed up. We send a confirmation email first and only add you to the list after you confirm.

Ideas: the idea you submit (title, the problem, your proposed solution, who it's for, and a category). If you add an email address, we keep it to tell you what happens with that idea. Approved ideas are shown publicly. Your email address is never shown.

Votes and follows: to stop one browser from voting many times on the same idea, we store a random identifier in a cookie. If you follow an idea, we keep your email address to send updates about that idea, after you confirm it.

Technical data: like most websites, our hosting provider may log basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request, and timestamps. We also use a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for a short time to limit abuse, so we can slow down bots without storing your raw address.

We don't ask for information from children, and this website isn't built for them. Please don't send us student information through any form.

We only use cookies that the site needs to work: a voting identifier (up to 180 days) and, for staff, a sign-in session. Our spam protection, Cloudflare Turnstile, may also use cookies or browser signals to tell people from bots, under Cloudflare's own privacy policy.

This website doesn't currently use advertising cookies or third-party analytics. If that changes, we'll update this policy first.

To send updates about Brenlo and its products, but only to people who joined the email list and confirmed.

To email you about ideas you submitted or followed.

To review and publish ideas, count votes, and keep the site secure and free of spam.

To meet legal obligations.

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. Submitting an idea does not sign you up to the newsletter. Those are separate choices.

Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link that works in one step. Emails about an idea you follow include a link to stop following that idea, or to stop all idea emails. You can withdraw your consent at any time.

When you unsubscribe, we keep a minimal record so we don't email you again by mistake.

We use service providers to run the website: our hosting provider, Supabase (database), Resend (email delivery), and Cloudflare (spam protection). They only handle your information to provide those services to us.

We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of Brenlo, our users, or others. If Brenlo is ever sold or merged, information may transfer as part of that deal, and this policy's protections will continue to apply.

We keep contact messages for as long as we need them to handle your request, plus a reasonable time afterward in case you follow up. We keep email list addresses until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Ideas stay on the board while they're relevant, and we can remove any idea, or delete your email from it, if you ask.

You can ask us to show you the information we have about you, correct it, or delete it. You can leave the email list or stop following an idea at any time. Send a request through the contact page and we'll take care of it.

Depending on where you live, including under Canadian privacy law, the GDPR, or the CCPA, you may have additional rights. We'll honor valid requests under those laws.

We use reasonable safeguards to protect the information you send us. Only authorized staff can see submitted emails, and email addresses are never shown publicly. No website or storage system is completely secure, so we can't promise absolute security.

If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top.
